Warning!! These essays have the potential to blow your mind! Proceed with caution.
Important note now that December 21, 2012 has passed: My book and free essays on the Maya calendar were ignored by the general public because I always maintained that the ancient Maya did not create the calendar as a prediction of any sudden shift in our world, either good or bad. My opinion that their message is the profound, timeless nondual message that all mystics bring forth did not appeal to very many people. Yet now that December 21, 2012 has come and gone and nothing of note has happened, perhaps you will be inspired to give my work a closer look.
When I say that their message is timeless, I mean that it was as meaningful to them 2,000 years ago as it can be for anyone at any time. Because of this, I feel that my book and free essays are still helpful to anyone who is still interested in this subject. To the best of my knowledge, I am the only one that presents both the correct astronomy and the correct message. Of course you are free to hold your own opinions.
In both my free essays and my inexpensive book, I go over the actual astronomy of 2012, which the Maya saw as the sacred triple rebirth of the sun. (Don't worry; this is more like art than astronomy! It's easy to understand the “pictures” in the sky that the ancient skywatcher imagined laid on top of the stars they easily saw without any telescopes.) While the astronomy is fascinating to me, much of my work was devoted to pondering the core meaning of the Long Count calendar. For me personally, the discovery of this material was totally mind-blowing. Perhaps you will have a similar experience! I hope you enjoy my work on 2012!
Mystical 2012 is still available from Amazon both as a paperback and as an ebook. See the links in the left column.
This is it! This is why the Maya picked 2012!
For the Maya at high noon on the winter solstice of 2012, the sun will be in front of the middle
of the dark rift, the Maya birth canal, and the sacred tree will be in the sky above them.
This day can be said to contain the “sacred triple rebirth of the sun.” This astronomical
metaphor points directly to the spiritual metaphor of the triple rebirth of you.
The Actual Astronomy of December 21, 2012, Not the Galactic Alignment
As we see in the above screenshot, the sun will be in front of the middle of the dark rift - the Maya as the birth canal - on the same day as the winter solstice of 2012. This was seen metaphorically by the ancient Maya as the sacred triple rebirth of the sun. We also see that there will be four planets forming the horizontal crossbar of the sacred tree and the sun will be virtually exactly in the middle of these planets. This is also quite significant as to why the Maya picked this exact day to restart their calendar. Yet there is nothing to fear; we are not going to fall into a black hole or be inundated with a high level of cosmic rays. As far as Mother Nature goes, it will be business as usual. Please note that the astronomy that I am pointing to is not “the galactic alignment” of John Major Jenkins, which already peaked in 1998. (I really like John but I don't think that the Maya missed what they were aiming at by 14 years!) The astronomy that I am pointing to is much more useful to the Maya as the foundation of the most profound metaphor of their culture: the metaphor of transformation and rebirth.
The Psychedelic Shamans
In order to understand the core meaning of the transformation and rebirth metaphor, we need to learn about the psychedelic effects of the chemicals that the ancient Maya shamans got from the glands of the Bufo toad. If someone talks about 2012 and they don't talk about the psychedelic shamans, they are missing the most important clue of all! After all, a stone statue of the Bufo toad is used as an altar in the sacred ceremonial grounds of Izapa, the birthplace of the Maya Long Count calendar. You cannot emphasize something more than that! The toad has the supreme place of honor at that site! And it is also on some of the stone carvings showing that the shamans went on journeys into the underworld - the mouth of the toad and the land of psychedelic experiences. [See image below.] When we understand the message of the toad, we find out what the Maya thought about the true nature of reality. For me personally, the more I dug into this material, the more mind-blowing it all became! Perhaps you will have a similar experience.

As I mentioned before, I don't think that the ancient Maya themselves created the calendar to predict world peace at this time. But this does not mean that we can't create a beautiful world right now! Your desire for world peace arises from your strong feelings of compassion and love and yet we should be honest and acknowledge that we do not have the power to make someone else happy; we do not have the power to make someone else be at peace.
Yet perhaps your attitude and action will inspire others to create deep peace and lasting joy within themselves. In this way, we all can work towards a more peaceful world. Your inspiration and offer of a helping hand to build a better world together can reach out in ways whose limits are unknown. So never give up hope and always do your best to transform both yourself and the world around you into yet an even more beautiful reflection of the divine love that comes to us all from the Source of everything.
These essays contain much of my own original research and I present the material in my own way with lots of my own pictures and diagrams that make it easy for everyone to understand. In other words, this is not a rehash of what you might have read elsewhere. The poetic beauty is breathtaking; the actual astronomy is profoundly precise! If I have piqued your interest, please read on.
Most of the essays do not require a background in either astronomy or the general subject of 2012 so you can start reading any essay that catches your eye. If another essay would be helpful to read first, that will be noted at the beginning and a link will be provided. (Please note that because of this approach, there is plenty of overlap between many of these essays.)

A narrated slideshow video: Mystical 2012:
Did the Maya Shamans Discover a Mystical View of Reality?
This was created from the audio recording of a public lecture that I gave in October 2010 - 48 minutes in 4 parts
In this narrated slideshow, I cover both the astronomy of 2012 plus the core meaning of the Maya's timeless transformation and rebirth metaphor, which is what the astronomy is pointing to. Learn about the astronomical cross that will fly through the sky over the Maya on the winter solstice of 2012 and why the Maya saw this special day as containing the sacred triple rebirth of the sun. After you see how I present the astronomy of 2012, you might wonder how so many people can be completely unaware of this simple but important perspective. I have unique information about 2012 and a presentation style that makes it easy for you to understand so please check out this video.
This 4-page essay is a very brief overview of my book, Mystical 2012. You can start with this essay and if you find it to your liking, you can move on to any of the other essays.
A 10-page essay with excellent pictures and diagrams
This is on of the fastest way to learn why the Maya picked the winter solstice of 2012. You will learn mostly by looking at well-marked pictures made from an astronomy software program and I wouldn't be surprised if you learn more in this essay than you have in the many hours of 2012 research you might have already done. You will learn about the actual astronomy that will unfold in the sky over the Maya on this special day - and only on this day! You will learn why the Maya used this astronomy for their timeless metaphor about transformation and rebirth. And finally, you will learn that in order to make a calendar that intentionally hits this exact day, the Maya needed to know the length of the year to within 45 seconds! That's 99.9999 percent correct! In my opinion, this is not merely remarkable, this is absolutely stunning! This essay is a modified excerpt from Mystical 2012.
The sacred triple rebirth of the sun and the sacred tree in the sky over the Maya
Learn why the astronomy that will unfold in the sky over the Maya on the exact day of the winter solstice of 2012 was used as the basis of the Maya's transformation and rebirth metaphor. Not only will you see how the astronomy provides the sacred triple rebirth of the sun, you will also see the beautiful configuration of the sacred tree on this special day. Yes, you can quickly and easily understand the basic astronomy of 2012!

Your True Self - What you think of as your personal consciousness is simply the One Awareness looking out through your eyes! This is happening to you right now and it has been happening to you your entire life! What was created when you were born was not a new personal consciousness but a new viewpoint from which the One Awareness experiences the world! Your true self is the One Awareness, not the sentient being you have considered yourself to be all your life. This is what some of the ancient Maya shamans discovered.
But not everyone who uses the chemicals from the toad awakens to this new understanding of the self, which is a core ingredient of what some people call a type of “enlightenment.” Yet the people that don't wake up to the true self often still wake up to the idea that there is a greater spiritual reality behind our ordinary physical reality. This is like waking up or being born into a spiritual world. This is why it can be said that the unfolding of this spiritual understanding has three births. Here they are:
1) Your birth into a materialist's view
2) Your birth into a spiritual understanding
3) Your awakening to your true self as the One Awareness
Why Their Experiences Are the Key to Understanding the Message of 2012 (7-pages)
As I explored the puzzle of 2012, one of the things that I least expected turned out to be the most important. My exploration of this subject was initially focused on the astronomy that will unfold on December 21, 2012 and this is indeed crucial in understanding why the Maya picked that exact day. But this essay does not focus on the astronomy; it focuses on something completely different. It focuses on the psychedelic effects of the chemicals that the Maya shamans got from the Bufo toad. These psychedelic experiences are the key to understanding the message of the ancient Maya. This essay draws plenty of material from Mystical 2012 but it also expands on it a bit.

In this essay, I'll explore the following question: Does the precision of the astronomical knowledge required to create the Maya calendar prove that extraterrestrials created it? Afterall, the required astronomical knowledge has a level of precision that seems to be well beyond what the Maya could have achieved with naked-eye astronomy. But, as we shall see, this does not necessarily mean that ET's were involved. Don't worry! The astronomy is easy! But let me warn you: the precision of the astronomy is completely mind-blowing!
This essay is completely self-contained. If you have never read anything about 2012 or the astronomy of 2012, this essay might be all you need to know. I have created many excellent pictures, which will allow you to quickly understand all the important points.

As I explored the puzzle of 2012, I quickly found the work of John Major Jenkins. John's a great guy and I really like much of his work but his idea that the Maya created their Long Count calendar to point to the galactic alignment left me a bit unsatisfied since that event already peaked in 1998. Consider this: From over 2,000 years ago, the Maya hit the exact day of the winter solstice of 2012. How could they hit the exact day they wanted and yet miss the year they wanted? That just did not make any sense to me and this is what motivated me to look closer at the astronomy. This essay is completely self-contained. I have created several excellent pictures, which will allow you to quickly understand all the important points.

If you have enjoyed my 2012 essays, you may want to read Mystical 2012, which brings together all of my important ideas about 2012. The astronomy that will unfold in the sky over the Maya on the winter solstice of 2012 is the key to understanding why the Maya restart their calendar on that exact day. Almost all calendars are based on astronomy and it appears that this is also true for the Maya calendar, although in a rather spectacular way! Quickly learn why this astronomy was seen by the Maya as the sacred triple rebirth of the sun. But what does the Maya's rebirth metaphor really mean? Does this metaphor point to a very deep spiritual rebirth that arose from the psychedelic rituals of the Maya? On the Maya sacred ceremonial grounds of Izapa, Mexico - the birthplace of the Maya calendar - we find altars carved in the shape of the Bufo toad. The poison glands of these toads excrete a psychedelic chemical that was used by the Maya shamans and there is a stone carving of a shaman together with this toad. Did the psychedelic rituals of the Maya shamans reveal to them a mystical view of reality? Did they awaken to their true fundamental identity and is this the profound spiritual rebirth that they hold forth as so important? And is this available to you now without drugs? Yes! Learn more about mysticism in general and the Maya's mystical message of rebirth in this easy to read booklet! For me personally, the more I dug into the subject of 2012, the more mind-blowing it all became! Perhaps you will have a similar experience!
What if the Maya calendar is not about doom and gloom or even world peace? What then? Certainly there might be another reason it was created! Well, after four years of being fully immersed in the study of the calendar, I think I have something to offer. Now, it seems to me that some people already have their minds firmly made up about the calendar. If this is you, that's fine with me. After all, I am only offering an opinion, and the opinions of other people might also be interesting. And I am very clear that my work is certainly not for everyone. (Ha! That's for sure!) You see, my work is very different from all the other 2012 books and movies in a number of important ways. Please let me go through them quickly right now. But don't forget, in the end, I am not simply letting go of some of the common 2012 ideas, I am adding something that you just might find very interesting. So let's see what's up.
Awaken to your eternal awareness now! (2-pages)
Did the Maya make the calendar simply because they could even though it was difficult? Was it a way of boasting or did they want to give us something, perhaps an invaluable treasure? The calendar clearly points to the rhythms of nature. What could they possibly want us to think or do in response to pondering the cycles of the day, the year and the great year? Their metaphor involves lovemaking and birth. Do they want us to contemplate the question of life itself? Do they want us to contemplate who we are at the deepest level? Do they want us to ponder the process of creation and the source of our very being? This essay is an excerpt from Mystical 2012.
This essay has great potential to blow your mind. Proceed with caution.
The Maya year is 99.9999 percent correct or better! (4-pages)
While the math is very simple, when I carried out the calculations for the first time, the results were simply mind-blowing! I had to double and triple check my work. Don't worry about the math; you can understand this and it will be clear to you why this is one of the most important facts to graps with regards to 2012.
Although the essay is 4 pages, you can get the point by reading just the first few paragraphs. The rest of the material simply provides all the fine details. The gist of this essay is included in several of my other 2012 essays.
(4-pages with three pictures)
As I have mentioned many times, the Maya picked the exact day of the winter solstice of 2012 because on that day, the sun will be in front of the dark rift, as seen from earth. As you know, the dark rift is a visible region in the band of stars made by our Milky Way galaxy. While the sun will be in front of the dark rift, don't get the wrong idea. The sun will not be engulfed in darkness! These stars will simply provide the very distant background for the sun. This leads some people to ask: How did the Maya know which stars would form the background for the sun on any given day since the brightness of the sun obscures these stars and prevents naked-eye skywatchers from observing them? This essay goes into the surprisingly precise astronomy that can be achieved by simply watching the sky and counting the days.
If you are only interested in the astronomy of 2012 but you don't want to spend too much time, I recommend this essay and my YouTube video, which is linked at the beginning of the essay.
This essay is simply a shorter version of The Actual Astronomy of 2012 and the Sacred Triple Rebirth of the Sun. It does not include any mystical spirituality nor does it discuss ET's.
A 28-page essay with many helpful diagrams and a link to my 11-minute video
This thought-provoking essay has the most detail about the actual astronomy of 2012 and the sacred triple rebirth of the sun. For me personally, the discovery of this material was totally mind-blowing. For most people, this essay will take some effort to read and some time to sink in. Yet it will be very rewarding for people that really want to understand the actual astronomy in great detail.
