The key to 2012 is the astronomy that will unfold over the Maya

The key to the restart date of the Maya calendar is the astronomy that will unfold in the sky directly over the Maya. This is shown in the above screenshot. Here we see that the sun will be in the middle of the dark rift, the Maya birth canal, on the day of the winter solstice. In my essays, I go over why this day can be said to contain the triple rebirth of the sun, which is a marker for the rebirth of the great year, the 26,000 precessional cycle.

We also see that there are four planets forming the horizontal crossbar of the sacred tree and the sun is virtually exactly in the middle of these planets. This is also quite significant as to why the Maya picked this exact day to restart their calendar.

Please note:

1) If the Maya intentionally pinpointed the exact day of the winter solstice in 2012 from over 2,100 years ago, they would have needed to know the length of the year to within 45 seconds! (Learn more here)

2) Five cycles of their Long Count calendar add up to the length of the earth's precessional cycle to within one-half of one percent and the Maya often talk about all five cycles!

An introduction to all my 2012 essays

Since the Maya calendar and mythology are both based on the underlying astronomy, it can be very helpful to understand this astronomy. This is fun and easy to do as long as we take it a little bit at a time. It won't take us very long to lay out all the information yet you may find yourself pondering this subject more deeply for quite awhile. For me personally, the more I dug into this material, the more mind-blowing it all became. Perhaps you will have a similar experience. These essays contain some of my own original research and I present the material in my own way with lots of my own pictures and diagrams so that it is easy for everyone to understand. This is not a rehash of what you might have read elsewhere yet of course, the content does agree with mainstream astronomy as reported by other. My material is often more detailed and more clearly presented.

Most of the essays are written in a way that does not require any background in either astronomy or the general subject of 2012. This means that you can read just one essay and ignore the rest. Yet each essay is tuned to a particular point of view or goal. This is explained in the summary below the link to each essay. Due to this approach, there is plenty of overlap between these essays. If another essay would be helpful to read before another essay, that will be noted at the beginning of the second essay and a link will be provided.

While the math is very simple, when I carried out the calculations for the first time, the results were simply mind-blowing! I had to double and triple check my work. Don't worry about the math; you can understand this and it will be clear to you why this is one of the most important facts to graps with regards to 2012.

Does the astronomical evidence prove an ET created the Maya calendar? (3-pages)

In this essay, I am not suggesting that extraterrestrials will openly arrive in 2012 but rather I am asking if they were involved in the creation of the calendar. Afterall, the required astronomical knowledge has a level of precision that seems to be well beyond what the Maya could have achieved with naked-eye astronomy. But, as we shall see, this does not necessarily mean that ETs were involved.
